Calvin Borel is now one of the most talked about jockey’s in the world. Coming off a huge Kentucky Derby win and a win at the Preakness last year all eyes are on him. He is looking to become one of the only jockey’s ever to not only repeat as Preakness winner, but win the race on a different horse from the one he ran at the derby.

Can it be done? This is unknown as Calvin does not have the pedigree or history of many riders. His first when at the Preakness came last year and while he had moderate success leading up to it, that success pales in comparison to what he has done since. Calvin continues to be the hot talked about rider and will continue to be so. At last year’s Preakness he made history by becoming the first rider since 1924 to guide a filly to the championship. The most amazing thing about this was how cocky Calvin Borel was coming into the race. He almost guaranteed a victory in the race and was able to live up to those high expectations.

Expectations for this year’s race are equally as high and it remains to be seen whether Borel will be up for the challenge. Regardless of how he ends up placing in the race he has already proven himself to be a new bright start in horse racing. One can expect bold predictions and even bolder racing from this up and comer. All eyes will be on the Preakness to see if he can deliver.
